New Delhi: India is rapidly expanding its supercomputer facilities and developing the capacity to manufacture its own supercomputers in the country, the Ministry of Science and Technology said on Wednesday.
The National Super Computing Mission (NSM) is rapidly strengthening the country’s computing power through its various phases to meet the increasing computational requirements of academia, researchers, MSMEs and start-ups in areas such as oil exploration, flood forecasting and also genomics, and medicine discovery, it said. As the infrastructure planned in NSM Phase-I has already been installed, and a large part of Phase II is in place, the network of supercomputers across the country will soon extend to about 16 petaflops (PF), the ministry said. said.
